Bandalong Litter Trap
Groundwork Anacostia River DC in collaboration with the Anacostia Riverkeeper recieved grant funding from the District Department of Environment to handle the maintenance of a litter trap. The trap is one of many that will be placed on portions of the Anacostia River’s tributaries to lessen the amount of trash that flows into the river. It is checked and cleaned weekly by Groundwork DC staff and volunteers. The trap is located at Kenilworth Park in Northeast DC along the Watts Branch of the river. The most recent cleaning removed 100 pounds of trash which consisted mostly of plastic and glass bottles and styrofoam and paper cups.
