District Department of Environment – Volunteer Day
- June 3, 2011
- Kenilworth Park
- 1900 Anacostia Dr., NE, Washington, DC, United States, 20019
Volunteers with the District Department of Environment (DDOE) will be assisting in cleaning the park, the bandalong trash trap and removing evasives at Kenilworth Park in NE Washington DC.
Kenilworth Park runs along the east bank of the Anacostia River just south of the Aquatic Gardens. The dominant habitats in Kenilworth Park are open fields and managed meadows. The south end of the football field provides views of the Anacostia River. The north end of the park has some views of Kenilworth Marsh. A visit to Kenilworth Park is a good follow-up (or prelude) to a walk in the Aquatic Gardens.
By public transportation: The closest Metro station is Minnesota Avenue on the Orange Line. Use the west exit for a pedestrian bridge that crosses 295. Walk one block west to Kenilworth Terrace, and then two blocks north to the park entrance. The U6 bus stops near the entrance of the park; you can board this route from the east side of the Minnesota Avenue station on the Orange Line.
